Nessuno oggi mette più in discussione che nella società attuale sia necessario prendere in considerazione i media anche in prospettiva educativa, il “come” farlo però deve nascere dall’innovare il concetto di alfabetizzazione ai media. L’idea di una nuova media literacy non può passare più semplicemente dalla abilitazione all’uso degli strumenti digitali e al controllo del loro consumo, ma deve fare i conti con un’idea più larga, un’idea di literacy multilivello che, a partire dalla strumentalità prenda in considerazione i linguaggi in quanto ciò attraverso cui le forme simboliche, le forme della cultura si costruiscono e quindi, dal livello dei linguaggi raggiungere il livello dei significati culturali dentro i contesti (Rivoltella 2020).
